When we read The Great Gatsby in
my junior English class, we followed the symbols throughout the book. When
reading it a second time, I found that I noticed the symbols every time they
came up. Furthermore, knowing the plot of the book allowed me to pay more
attention to the language, since I didn’t have to focus as much on every
detail.

Why did you choose this book to read again?
I chose to read The Great
Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald again for a variety of reasons. The main
reason was because it was by far my favorite book that I’ve read in a high
school English class. Some of the books we’ve read (no offense Mrs. Smith) have
practically been painful to read. These books fall in to the category of
reading them because you have to but not being able to enjoy them. With The
Great Gatsby I actually enjoyed the book even though it was required.
